I’ve been using Windows XP Pro (SP1) here in North Carolina for the last few days. So far the coolest “New Feature” seems to be that it needs updates every day.
Sigh…gad DAMN Microsoft sucks. Only proves what we’ve all known for a long time anyway: if you want a better mouse trap, build your own.

Battlestar Galactica
Wow. It’s amazing that they got a budget for this slop. Then again, the SciFi Channel is probably run by ex-90210 producers and LA Law writers. If they had balls they would air REAL science fiction and not this…er…CRAP. The token sex scenes (completely out of place, completely predictable – what do we do! I’m an incompetent writer! oh, yeah…add a sex scene!) are almost as bad as the “real” drama going on. The only thing semi-cool about it are the outer space combat scenes — which seemed to repeat oddly enough (Cylon fighters: far away, up close, zoom by, launch missle, repeat).
But the REAL angst? Dude, the old Vipers had three COLORED BUTTONS on the joystick; Fire, Turbo and Rev. Three of them. In every damn shot inside the cockpit we saw this. In the new series looks like they called Thrustmaster or CH and ordered a bunch of…GAME CONTROLLERS???
I’m calling my lawyer.
Gentoo
I got Gentoo installed this weekeend on my dual PIII 750 *nix box. I tore the box apart and rebuilt in on the inside: added some extra drive space, took out a Zip drive, reconfigured all the master/slave crap etc. I just got it to boot properly this morning, which made me very happy! So next I gotta tweak the hell out of the kernel, get SSH and FTP up and running, blah blah blah. Perfect snow project! (Rob, thanks for the mail server info). Winter is for geeking out.
