Linksys card probably bad, operator probably not so great either…
Well uh, I tried out the Linksys chat thingy Rob. Yeah, pretty cool. Turns out I probably have a bad card. Geez. Whoda thought? (Musta been the same guy who worked on the bad memory I got).
And I will say that I said that I was gonna say this…so, it ain’t the driver guys after all. Probably. But I ain’t positive.
Linksys sucks ass
Well, I’ve pretty much spent my entire Saturday trying to get the wireless Linksys PCMCIA card on my laptop to work. The access point rocks, no problem. The card, on the other hand, is turning out to be an absolute nightmare. Every time I get the damn thing running, the drivers just…like…STOP. And then a reboot makes Win2K go all amnesia – it doesn’t even know its a fucking WIRELESS card boys, it just says UNKNOWN_PCMCIA_DEVICE (jesus god fucking hail mary in a suitcase, you were just RUNNING the fucking card. How can you NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS???) and then it just kinda stops.
Well. God bless cat 5 and as far as the Linksys driver developers who released this abortion I say their heads go on pikes. Holy shit. You’re not developers, you’re dark shadows on the face of my weekend, and I hate you all with fire and bile. FUCK YOU.
(and i”m sure in my next post, I’ll be able to explain that it was actually all my fault which seems to be a common recurrence. But I wanted to use the rage feature and there ya have it.)
Linux got ya beat???
Well then BEAT THE PENGUIN!

Homesite
Got an email from someone at Macromedia today asking me if I was willing to talk to them about Homesites funtionality with PHP. So quickly I replied and today I recieved a small survey from their dev department.
Looks like that want to add a debugger, code analyser and some other things. I sent them about 20 things I would like to see implented or changed, so we will see where this goes. This does qualify me for all their beta versions.
All in all it appears that MM is not phasing out Homesite after all!!
My new board… seriously this time
Jokes over. There’s absolutely no way in hell I could justify buying a quad opteron board.
I am going 64 bits however.
Here’s what I’m really gonna get.
What’s most interesting to me is the Nvidia’s nForce3 chipset. It’s had mixed reviews and really can’t compare to VIA’s. However the main complaint has been with folks who tweak, overclock, and just generally mess around in the BIOS. I’m definitely not one of them. The integrated Gigabit Ethernet adapter is actually made by Broadcom. These folks were kind enough to produce the linux driver as well so this shouldn’t pose any problem whatsoever. That being said, the integrated sound chipset is currently NOT compatible with linux and therefore I’ll be pushing my old SB card back in the box. Oh well.
Lastly, I definitely enjoy the following:
SATA Raid controller
RADEX Power supply cooler
Rounded cables (which are included, SWEET!)
Overall design of the board
My new board
Well, as you may or may not know, the motherboard on my main box has been dead for some time now. This has resulted in the loss of many hours producing useful code, learning assembly language and extending my knowledge of linux. That being said, I’m not necessarily ashamed of my 73-0-0-0 record in ESPN’s NHL Hockey.
Without further ado, I’d like to share with you my new motherboard…
I figure: 8.8 GHz = making up for lost time
SB updated
Well looks like Litten had a few spare moments this weekend.
I did a major upgrade to the site since we were running version .72 and I noticed that they were upto 1.01. Oops!!
Well the uprade went better than planned and everything seems to be working a little more smoothly. Last week I noticed when trying to post or reply the PHP would time out but the post/reply still got through but never made it to the final page to let you know it was done. Anyways let me know if you have any issues with this. There is a nice little calendar that was added!! PS when posting there is an Advanced Editing button this will allow you to upload images now.
