My network loves me…again
Well there boys, I have success with my crazed mad network. I got my Linksys BEFSR81 back from the shop today, with a turnaround of about 2 weeks. Pretty good and now I’m guilty from all the bad feelings towards Linksys. At least when they mess up they try to fix it. So, here’s what’s cooking:
I’m running a Static/Dynamic mix network, with the Motorola phone unit for my VOIP behind the router and plugged into port 1 with QOS (Quality Of Service) enabled and the happy VOIP ports opened up to trigger as needed. I have my wireless access point all locked down and good to go with my Tungsten-C, and I’m able to surf and sync via 802.11b, which is pretty neat. The Sun and DualPIII Gentoo boxes, and Ye Olde Mackintawsh are also happy and on the network. So now all I need is to order a new card for the laptop, and things should explode in a shrieking mass of TCP packets and conflicting IPs (last time my router actually emitted a puff of smoke). But for the moment, I am one happy camper.
This after a particularly nasssty day of dealing with Java, ATG style. How fun. Um, especially since I don’t know Java, which can be mildly frustrating, to say the least.
This is going to be an interesting year. So many people seem to be exploring school and all, I can’t help but start looking at my own interests, background, skills, and options.
And with that, Gentlemen, I’ll take my leave. I have some cigars that need attending to!
