Happy weekend Boys…doing an install of Redhat 10 on my dual processor today. I have no idea what the outcome will be. I thought it might be cool to muck around with the 2.6 kernel. I’m getting interested in application servers – specifically those that run with the J2EE spec (ATG Dynamo, JBoss). Going to maybe install JBoss or the ATG demo on this box, to see if they play nice with the 2.6 kernel. Funny how work-related projects can spark all this interest in technology:

Grendel’s Boss’ Boss’ Boss: “VEON! We need a huge Flash thingy in 3 months that fully integrates with all of our other systems. Get on it.”
Grendel: “Gulp. Yessir!”

(cue: mad scramble of reading study study install break read scramble “whythefuckdidigiveupsmoking…”)

Anyway, NYC in the Spring is great for about 4 or 5 weeks and then it gets brutal humid and hot and disgusting. (All you ‘Summer Is Great’ people can have your 90 degree/90% humidity weather. Us Viking Lord nordic pasty white guys hate this shit.) That’s when I remember that my A/C and my books and my computers and video games are not so bad after all. I can hole up in my nice dark quiet cold cybercave and get frustrated about Java and Flash and Oracle and play Dungeon Siege II and drink protein shakes and smoke good cigars until it’s time for Fall and football and chicks in tight fluffy sweaters. I hope you guys can still identify with this stuff.

Long range, thinking about setting up a game server to play some multiplayer _______ some time this year, maybe after Paul moves? Dunno.

Peace, bros!

Let me know how that RH10 goes. Have not done jack shit lately, computer or tech related.
I am with you on the weather Grendel, I hate summer with a passion. I will take Fall and Winter all the time if I had the option. The only way for that to happen would be to move to Alaska or somewhere in the Antartic. I think I would dig being in complete darkness for 24 hours. Man that sounds odd.

hm — RH 10 is NOT at 2.6 kernel yet…looks like they hyped it for pre-release but it’s still the 2.4 kernel. So, works just like any other Redhat install. Easy Peasey, Japanesey…
