SB is AWESOME!
LOVING THE NEW SKIN!
Rob, this is the best one yet. Very modern, very sexy. I dig it. Excellent choice!
NEVIL Wins!!!
Well we had our 4man Beach Volleyball Championship last night which started us right into semi-finals.
The 1st team we played only showed up with 3 players so we were able to take them down rather easily which put us right into the finals. This team we has won it the past 2 years in a row now and we where out to steal that away from them. 1st game we dominated winning 25-17. The 2nd game we started off strong then fell behind losing 25-23. So needless to say the 3rd game was back and forth. We were down 3 points then was able to make them up around the 18-18 stage of the game. Still pushing we got to about 21-20 when the one guy we played against was not happy with a call and got himself all worked up. Thats all I needed to see. So I started serving to him each time which stagedy wise is usually the best scenario here since if his head is not in the game neither are his skills. So all in all that pushed us to the 25 -21 victory celebration!! Finally it took 3 year but Team NEVIL was successful.
We got to keep the game balls (4 Total) and we get 4 embriodered shirts too.
Home Theater
This is probably a really bad idea, but I’m starting to seriously consider home theater systems. In particular I’m looking at the InFocus Screenplay 5000. Combined with some Screen Goo for my wall, things might get mighty interesting for the Superbowl…
And to be honest, thinking about the PC Gaming/XBox possibilities just makes me completely freak out.
screwing around with Reason
Nothing humongous. Just a little loop. ![]()
L202.net
…however, I WILL say that this comes after a weekend of completely stripping down my Sun box and reinstalling Gentoo 64. (No Paully, I didn’t use a stage 1, hee hee).
Anywho, I finished off by messing around in Flash and Reason 2.0.
The Real Geeks
The real geeks aren’t the ones with the “hacker” t-shirts on or that own 15 feet of neon strips to trick out their machines. They’re actually living in Japan and working at the University of Tokyo, striving for excellence in the field of modern robotics.
Check out their movies to get an inside look at these incredible scientists and their work.
Vacation (Gear) Alert
Hey, I’m going on vacation! Can’t remember when I took one that was absolutely for me. I was gonna rent a car and drive down to see the folks, but I started thinking about living here in NYC for six years, and I’ve not seen anything or done anything remotely touristy on a large scale. That’s pretty bad, boys. Haven’t even been to the Empire State Building. So I’m goin to New York City!
And the money that I would have spent on a car rental? Well…
I ordered a Canon Powershot S1-1S from Newegg today. This camera is simply amazing. 10x Zoom, image stabilization, Flash I / Flash II / IBM Microdrive compatible (wicked! little teeny hard drives…heehee!), and it got a very solid and interesting review from dpreview.com. I’m psyched. Also ordered a 256MB Flash I card, a card reader (USB2), and a case. Newegg had a weekend special on the camera and I got a great deal on it.
So, I kick off my vacation on Saturday the 28th (and I hope to be over at Paul’s carrying boxes and taking farewell pics), and then I’m not back to work until Tuesday September 7th. I’m gonna do the whole deal…Statue of Liberty, Ellis, Empire State/Chrystler building, Botanical Gardens, Planetarium, Museums — Met / Whitney / Guggenheim / MoMA / Natural History…all that stuff. Should be pretty fun. And now, you may drool:

SB Rocks!
Just a general thanks to both of you for keeping me entertained this year. Just when I think my life gets interesting, one of you seems to out do me or goes one step beyond. Here we are 3 different people with similar interests yet each of us has a different characteristic that shines though in our posts. Keep it real boys!!
Son Of Power Supply
OK, try to follow with me here boys:
1. My power supply burns out. OK, order a new one.
2. Order new PS from NewEgg, but it sucks and burns out. Request RMA.
3. Dad sends me a link. I order a different p/s from this link, which is what I’m supposed to do when somebody sends me a link. Right? So I get the P/S and it’s all thrown in like an old Nike box with no tape and a faded label and no documentation, looks like it came out of a black market through Paraguay or something. Dad says he only sent the link to show me which one to get and not to use this to order the real p/s (the old boy gets crafty when he wants to). Demo purposes only. Oh. Request RMA for an exchange please.
4. I send three emails asking for a replacement with proper packaging and documentation. These black market el cheapo Paraguay guys take forever…I think I’m being blown off. Final request to them? I want a REFUND. DO NOT SEND ANOTHER P/S. In the mean time, screw it — I install the first one. I’ll just keep it and order another one if this one dies. OK, so I’m all set. Right? Yay. Hah. Read on…
5. Still havent sent the original one back to NewEgg for RMA. It’s sittin here sucking up space.
6. The crappy black market p/s people finally inform me that they are shipping another power supply – not refunding my money. And tell me that they will charge for restocking. I don’t want another bullshit hot one, I want a refund! They don’t care and want me to have another one. So since I’m using the first one anyway, I’ll just need to send this second one directly back to them. Even if it’s brand new. And pay a restocking fee. And shipping. Hm.
7. Still havent sent the original one back to NewEgg for RMA. That’s two RMA’s with restocking fee.
8. Meanwhile my dad gets wind of the situation and decides to “help me out”. So he orders a power supply direct from AOpen from some Chinese lady named Alice who doesn’t speak the ol’ English too well. OK, so now I have another power supply coming my way. Hm, ok…
9. Get home today to find a massive box from AOpen. Inside are not one but FIVE POWER SUPPLIES. Seems like somebody made a goof. Somebody who doesn’t speak the ol’ English too well just wants me to power up my life and KEEP powered up. Until I’m like 80. I have power supplies coming out of my ears. Under my bed. On the couch. In the shower. Hanging from my shelves. In the fridge.
So. I am sitting here with approximately eight newly arrived power supplies. One’s burned out, two are sketchy, and five just kinda showed up for the party. I give up, dude. You tell me. Oh yeah…and I’m also looking at 4 CD-ROM drives sitting on my shelf. And they have a power supply on top of them (it’s one of a few extra power supplies that I keep in case my power supply burns out. But these don’t support the P4. Only P3, Celeron and AMD XP processors. And such.)
And I wonder how my dad gets that drawer full of 300 socks and underwear…
