Empire 101

Well since Grendel said wtf is Empire I figured I would give a 101.
Back in the C64 BBS days when you logged in you had an option to play Empire.
Each day you would get X amount of moves (Think it was 3) but you could (A)ttack, (H)avest, (B)uild etc.
Basically a text version of Warcraft type games. But since you where only allowed those restricted moves once they where used up, you would have to wait until the next morning to get your moves back and then you also found out how you did overnite. Usually you would get a report back that I will allow Vott to explain in his detail since he usually doesn’t forget old school gaming details.
Anyways I actually found a telnet bbs that is running Empire however no one is ever online for me to get my account boosted up so I can play the damn thing. Hence the reason to create it from scratch with our own outcomes. You will see a gracious teaser I get when logging into the BBS.

First off, I just wanna say this is a great post. How cool is THIS??? Second I want to get in on some of this action! Text based adventures are just too cool…from a player perspective and also a programming viewpoint. So if you guys get this thing going please lemme know! Thanks for sharing the love…us Atari guys missed out on some of this stuff. :)

Good to know. The cool part is that we get to customize the outcomes for the game as well. So we could use terminology like “Welcome Back Sir Grendel, you gained 1,000 gold pieces, 2 buildings got horde by Vott sand storm.. Cool quirks like that. So the more brains the merrier!! Thanks for the compliment on the post!

Would be cool to add this to the site – after logging in, have a window on the right nav showing the latest stats…just a thought. Of course a huge project and all, but it’s worth mentioning. I don’t have any idea how it would be set up.

I would show the current stats from the games we play on the site definitely!
