Pingu’s Back!
You guys remember that game where you played a Yeti who had to blast a penguin with a club? Well, I kinda missed playing that sucka and wondered if the author had put anything else together. To my surprise he’s created 7 different games total including a pentathalon where you play the first 5 for a cumulative overall score. Each game is now updated live to his server which holds literally thousands of scores from players around the globe.
And seeing as it’s just him I highly doubt he’s running into human resource problems.
Snowbrain’s traffic on the move
Well finally after probably 6 months, I finally talked to the admin at work wondering why the site stats have not been working.
Silly me, I forgot to update the server location when I moved the site over to its new location. Luckily all the log files where still collecting all the information which when I first viewed them I was really surprised to see that the traffic has nearly doubled from 2003. Taking into consideration we had about 200 hits of spam this month, plus hosting a couple movies for Jake, but all in all there are alot of people viewing this site other than what we may have ever thought. See the graphic below to see for yourself.
Keep up the good work boys.

It’s Like the (Illegal) Drug Industry
I try not to post links to Slashdot that often but this one really got me going. After reading some of the (rarely useful) comments I thought I might as well dive in and check out the links provided in the post.
If you’re even remotely interested in the gaming industry, definitely give these a read. It’s amazing that these studios (particularly EA) are not regulated by a union or (God forbid) the government. People’s lives are regularly destroyed by companies like EA and even though I’ll admit that I’ve been addicted to Quake like Pookie on crack, I don’t know that I feel too good about the stories that are starting to spring up.
UberOrbs
Ok, so I saw these on Think Geek and thought, “What the hell!?! They’re magnets! This is stupid.”
And then I read the description.
Then I visited the website…
…pulled down all the movies…
…and now I’m posting.
They’re UberOrbs!
God, I’m dumb.
Pirates are coming!!
Sid Meier’s Pirates hits the market on Tuesday Nov. 23.
Based on the reviews and screenshots, this looks to be a fun game for the stategic game buff.
Check it out
Logitech, once again!
Logitech® MX™1000 Laser Cordless Mouse:
“Combining laser with Logitech´s powerful MX processing engine and Fast RFâ„¢ wireless technology, the Logitech MX 1000 Laser Cordless Mouse sets a new performance benchmark for the responsiveness and accuracy of mice.”
Okee dokey. Well, this one is definitely coming soon to a desktop near me…
Cedega Supports Half-Life 2
So you’ve all heard my reasons for switching from Windows to Linux and from Linux to Windows. My reason for switching from Linux back to Windows (and by switch I mean, which OS will be installed on my Uber Box) was primarily because of gaming. We all know that Windows is the #1 platform for the latest and greatest games on the market. That being said I think it’s safe to say that when you think of the hottest games out there, one is normally bent towards the most current FPS. Well as you probably know, Doom 3 is now available on Linux after weeks on the market. As usual you purchase the Windows version and download the Linux binary. Easy. Well, there’s always been another option.
Transgaming has been cranking out their flagship product, Cedega (although under different names in the past) for a long time now and I’ve been one of it’s subscribers for the past 4 years. In short, it kicks ass. For more information on Cedega, click here.
Rarely as Transgaming churned out a workable product this quickly, but after just 2 DAYS it was announced that Half-Life 2 does in fact run on Linux!!!
With the holidays coming up, snow storms a-brewing and my newly rejuvinated passion for geekdom and all things Linux; I think I’ll be able to find at least a couple hours a week to check out this ground-breaking title.
That is of course once I finish my freelance work, devise a plan to transfer all my valuable files to a safe haven, download the latest Fedora Core, get it up and running, tweak my network, download vmare, reinstall all my Win32 apps…
(sigh) Coffee anyone?
