I discovered Wish today as I was surfing FilePlanet (and looking for a demo of the new LOTR Game that just got released.)

Apparently the guys at Mutable Realms have created the first true MMORPG game (oops, I mean UMMORPG – that’s U for ULTRA) supporting over 10,000 players at a single time. Players are not divided by realm either…we can all meet up without having to coordinate that Rob is in the Realme Of Grutthamnia and I’m on Slytthe Isle while Paul is in the Domaine Of Fumm. (Dude, I totally love the Olde Tyme Englishe Spellying). This is impressive. I’d like to know what kinda hardware they are running.

Also, they apparently have a full-time staff of writers who are continually writing the storyline, so you’re guaranteed to see new things all the time. This is pretty cool. I signed up for the beta just to see what it’s gonna be like. If you guys are into it the linky to the beta is here – but know that it expires by January 1st.

I don’t expect to spend much time on it myself, with hectic work + classes in project management and Paulosophy coming up and all…but it sure looks interesting from a conceptual point of view. I gotta try it.

Well since time is never on my side, you will have to let me know how this goes.
Sounds like an Everquest game x 1000 times better. Problem with that game is I refuse to pay $10 a month to play an online game. I would rather take that money and try a game of Texas Holdem at my local pub. $5 in can get me $45. But at least I learn more each time I play especially how to bullshit and try to read people… But keep me Posted Grendel!

Impressive. I’v actually never played a MMORPG or even an Ultra MMORPG for that matter but if I did, I would definitely give these guys 10 bucks a month. Hell, even if you play only one hour a day for 5 days that’s still only 50 cents an hour! Not a bad investment. :)
