February 25, 2005 · Posted in Tech · 5 Comments

:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Connection is:: 544 Kbps about 0.5 Mbps (tested with 579 KB)
Download Speed is:: 66 KB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Test Time:: Thu Feb 24 2005 23:58:57 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time)
Bottom Line:: 10X faster than 56K 1MB download in 15.52 sec
Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 14.28 % of your hosts average (mindspring.com)

Uh, scuse me? 66KB/s? WTF?

Point is, the $%*#& ISPs still suck major arse. They can’t keep up with the user base. Of course, these are all poor companies that don’t have a lot of capital to spend on those luxuries like, uh, upgrading the hardware.

Sweet Willy Rollbar. I’m pissed off.

I’ve been listening to (and now recommend you listen to) the destroyer.net internet radio project. Killer DnB, breakbeat, etc. It’s pretty furious. If you haven’t had your coffee yet…

Enjoy! :)

The latest Paulinux journal entry is now available on the project site.

This entry covers the installation of the following packages:

Gawk, Coreutils, Bzip2, Gzip, Diffutils, Make, Grep, Sed, Gettext, Ncurses, Patch, Tar, Texinfo, Bash, M4, Bison, Flex, Util-linux, Perl and finally, Udev.

It will also wrap up the temporary system. This allows me to immediately begin the final Paulinux system build.

And now, for your moment of zen…

I found a pretty huge resource for goodies at techrepublic.com. Not sure if you geeks knew about this already or not. Lots of white papers, articles, discussion forums, etc. Everything related to the tech industry.

I find it to be a pretty solid companion resource when I want to dig into something deeper that I may have found through Information Week, etc.
