God switching to Open Source
Found an interesting article today showing how this one church desided to make the switch from Microsoft web applications (ASP.NET and IIS) to Open Source (Limux, Apache, PHP). Alot of good reasons why EVERYONE should be going to Open Source.

Rob, if God is gonna switch to Limux…I’m switching to Limux too.
Funny you bring this up. About a year ago I joined the Web Development team at my Church. They wanted a new site developed with new sections to be more up to date and current. The style needed to be modern but relaxed. I was drawn to this as it would be great experience and a nice resume builder. Well after many meetings weekly I tried to push PHP, mySQL, and other OpenSource/Free was to go about the development of the site. You know what I got out of it. Nothing. I stopped going to the meetins due to the original creator of the website did not want to learn PHP, mySQL and other things. He wanted to keep it HTML/ASP.NET and would only use FrontPage. So after my ideas got shot down left and right I said forget it. If you are not even going to take my ideas into consideration at least, then i’m not much help to you. So they managed without. The great thing is that I have another attempt withthe Church. They have just announced that they need a Network Administrator. Well i’m sure I can do that.
Thanks for the link Rob…..
Sorry if that tid bit of info bored anyone. Just thought I’d share.
Limux = Linux with Lime
Kinda like Coke with Lime… Its the new thing…
Oh yea, I remember this conversation like a year ago. Good Call.
Kinda like, if life gives you limes…just compile a Limux kernel?
It funny to see this guy’s review of the situation and how it progressed. Anyone else would be like, “Well cause M$ sucks ass” and “Bill Gate’s and his minions are inately 3vil”. It’s just the opposite…
“Microsoft’s charity pricing is a wonderful benefit to all churches and non-profit organizations”
(regarding Security) “Again, Microsoft has made great strides…”, etc.
Makes you see things in much more positive light.
We could all use more of that.
It certainly gives more meaning to “CMS”
