So after all the E3 hype and the Star Wars geekiness and a few unexpected emails with a friend of a friend who works at Rockstar NYC, I had Gear Nerd Fever. Natch, I went out and bought a PlayStation 2. Yeah, that controller in the pic is to scale to the actual unit. How cool is that???

I considered getting an X-Box, but with the 360 coming out in 6 months that would have been dumb. The PS2 has a huge catalog, and I have friends with games, so it makes sense.

For games, I picked up:

A used copy of GTA San Andreas which has been fun, and very informative of what type of game Rockstar creates. The GTA franchise has been around for a while and does very well. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. All I know is I keep getting capped. :)

I also got a brand spankin’ new copy of God Of War. It’s just beautiful. This is why ya buy a console. It’s a beautiful game and I’m really happy with it.

I really gotta get Burnout 3 and Tekken 5…looking forward to Madden, of course, and whatever else is coming down the soon-to-be-ended PS2 catalog pipe.

I’m lucky in that I have a coworker who’s wife works for a company that gives her free PS2 games, so he has a bunch of them that he’s completed. He’s bringing in some goodies on Monday. I’m really interested in hooking this thing up to my router to see what the online experience is all about, how it works, etc. This isn’t my primary interest in the console, but it’s still worth a look. (Paul, you still have that PS2? Want to try it out?)

Anyway, you can guess what I’m up to this weekend…

That God of War looks amazing. From my knowledge, didn’t you already own a PS2 way back when and sell it to someone….? maybe Paul bought it…? Whatever… congrats.. my recent purchase was tearing you up I see. :)

Hey Rob, you were actually the driving force behind my purchase of God Of War — I saw it in the store and remembered that you had sent me links about it. Yeah, it’s GORGEOUS man! Really tight animation and a great soundtrack too.

Ah man…. I wish I knew you were going to purchase a PS2. I have the first generation (large size) ready to go with a 40GB Hard Drive in it. Its used but would have sold it to ya for a good price. Oh well. Ya I just rented Midnight Club3: DUB Edition. I like racing games and this one I can customize the cars and race. I can’t wait to see some of the new games to be on PS3 and XBOX 360.

    Congrats on the new purchases.

Hey theDarkStranger — thanks man, but I’m liking the teeny tiny one. :)

I still can’t get over how small that puppy is. That’s sick!

Erin’s cousin has the PS2. Sorry.

After talking to you and rip though, I’m starting to think about saving up the the PSP… :)
