Ugly but Cool
Creature co-op toys are so ugly their irresistible.

time for an upgrade!
Sooo. I’ve had my PC for about 4 years…which is beginning to show its age a little in the tech world. I believe it has a 2.4 gig Intel Pentium processor in it. I also have only 256 Mbs of rammage…expandable to 2 gig.  And a 80 gig hard drive, which seems to be ample.
I have installed a Soundblaster Audigy Plat. Ext. sound card which gives me more than enough varied inputs to choose from. I’ve grown to love the Creative media player…though I do find it a bit buggy at times (maybe due to my pc’s age?) and it will tend to crash when I’m the slightest bit impatient (due to lack of ram?). But I know it quite well and I haven’t even reached full potential with it.
In order to combat with the RIAA from rearing its ugly head again, and, spotting all my ‘trophies’,  I bought an external case and installed a 250 gig hard drive to store all my media. I’ll post my partitioning problems later:)
Thats what I’m working with. Now I’ll briefly explain what my future plans are.
Music is my main goal here. I want to eventually have a virtual ‘jukebox’. Which is what the external hard drive is for.  I want to upgrade my video card as well. I also plan on purchasing wireless peripherals. I want to be able to connect my PC to my TV….which I also plan on purchasing new in the future.
So with your collective EXP and brainpower….guide me. I know I need more ram-jam. And I think that my first step is to max it out. But, do I leave my processor alone? Next is a video card. Whats the best quality video connection I can get with one? I have a Sony Dreamsystem that has component video outs…I’m sure that will suffice for DVD. But I’ve heard of quality loss when you connect a PC to a TV. Whats the best type of screen for viewing both?
Sorry this was long winded and scattered. I’d appreciate your input. Tax time is near and I smell a purchase coming on.
cheers!

Cyber Athlete
Most of you know that my son likes playing Ratchet and Clank on my PS2.
To most, they think this to be a bad thing, which I some what agree. But his hand and eye coordination are getting surprisingly good and fast. I am almost afraid to play him head to head.
Anyways, I found this article online today and figured I would share it.
rainbow twangers and a hidden agenda.
anybody seen that uk childrens show put out in the 70′s by Rainbow studios? Now, my dear brother has debunked many of my internet find and posts so I don’t know if this is legit or not…but very funny non-the-less.
My hidden agenda is to send you to my Myspace profile to view it. I’ve been doing some very basic code (alot of copy/paste stuff). I’ve noticed different results on different systems. Any feedback would be great…such as sluggish page load, hard on the eyes, etc. Tnx.

MagWerk’s Online Magazine Trio
Scandinavian magazine firm MagWerk has recently launched three incredible, flash-based, online magazines that are absolutely must-sees.
PlayMusicMagazine offers readers music and lifestyle articles, Probe is their gaming mag and Encore covers art and design.
Each magazine boasts incredible flash animated advertisements and content, streaming video and even games embedded in the pages. The reading experience is much like a real magazine in that you simply click on the corners of the pages to turn them.
Could these be the dawn of a new era in online magazines? Considering that FF Media Group has already filled out the paperwork for a patent and has backing from Mini and Sony Ericsson, it seems they think so.
Check all three of them out here.
Dannyboy
I’d like to introduce my mother’s son, Dannyboy to the snowbrain community. I’ve known him since he was born and surprisingly he’s still very high on my People-I-Like-To-Hang-Out-With List.
Welcome, bro.
Another Rootkit
1st it was Sony installing rootkits when you inserted an audio cd.
Now Norton was caught doing the same thing.
I’ve always said that Norton products were evil. Apparently when you install SystemWorks it installs a rootkit to “see why people delete files”
Thats BULLSHIT!!
I’ve stopped using Norton products back in 1998 when their applications seemed to take over your entire computer. Now I am using McAfee but still do not trust them much either.

OPTIMUS OLED Keyboard – Out in Feb!
Yup. Like the title says.
Remember how I went on a rant about this OLED keyboard and it was just an IDEA from a Arts group in Russia? Well It has in fact been made and will be scheduled for shipments in February possibley.
They are to be priced at about $200.
Yes that is expensive for a keyboard. But I think I may get one anyway. Hopefully this year.
Pandora
Thanks to Matt for sending me this link to Pandora.
Pandora is a audio streaming flash interface that allows you to search for an artist/title, the results will be returned and it will start playing for you immediately. This is based off the Genome Project! This is probably the best flash interface I have seen in a long time. For each song that is played you get an album cover displayed. Clicking on this cover gives you multiple options, including I like it, or I don’t like it. If you choose that you do not like a song this vote will give it a thumbs down and move onto the next song.
I have been using it for about an hour already this morning and this is the “Cats Ass”
