SB is 5 years old

As of 4/18/2008 Snowbrain is officially been running for 5 years.
Not much to say, we started with 3 members and got up to and still have 5 members but with everyones lives changing (jobs/kids/hobbies) there is not as much time for blogging for everyone. So I would foresee most the activity this year being mostly from me. Which is fine as I know my other members still check in from time to time and leave comments as needed.
Heres to another year!!

Below are the previous links to celebrate this day:

2008 Objectives

January 2, 2008 · Posted in General · Comment

Since I see a lot of others posting their 2008 goals for the new year I figured I would set some myself.

  • Accomplish whatever I set myself out to do

Simple, this way if I PLAN on doing something I will make sure I get it done. No hard feelings, objective complete. This way there is no stress for the year. Sanity is a good thing, no reason to get all worked up if you fail.

2008 will bring more homebrews, hopefully some ALL GRAIN batches as I have done a lot of reading on them and think I have a good handle on what I need to do.

Sound/Smell proof my Cubicle

December 19, 2007 · Posted in General · 1 Comment

As I sit here (with headphones on) and still over hear EVERY stupid conversation that goes on throughout the day, I get more annoyed that people are so inconsiderate with their coworkers. This is why I am thinking about sound/smell proofing my cubicle.
Things like:

  • Cell phone ringers - turn them on vibrate, thats what the options for
  • Conversations - if personal, take them out of the office, I don’t care about what you did last night, or what you are doing tonight
  • Scents - perfumes and colognes use them sparsely
  • If you leave your cubicle take your phone with you
  • Talk in a normal decibel, If I can hear you, your talking to loud
  • Stop moaning or making stupid noises as they irritate everyone that surrounds you
  • If I can hear you from 30 feet away, your ANNOYING, Shut up!!

So based on a couple of these above issues has really determined me to Sound/Smell proof my cubicle. I don’t know how yet, but something has to be done as I should not be constantly bothered by irritations from my surroundings as they hinder my overall performance on doing my own job.
If anyone has some suggestions, you know how to contact me as I am going CRAZY!!

Some of the above bullets where taken from Cubicle Etiquette 101

Good How About Yourself?

December 19, 2007 · Posted in General · Comment

Seeing I work in a office with a customer support agent sitting right next to me one of the most ANNOYING things to hear is the ever infamous…”Good How About Yourself” phrase. Years ago when I was working at a Bike Shop, my old boss would say this all the time and me and my coworker would tease him every time he said it. I guess since I am getting older I get more annoyed by repetitious phrases that seem to cut through me whenever I hear them.. This includes the one I blogged about before “To Be Perfectly Honest“. Of course I wear headphones to drown out as much noise from the outside world as possible, but I do not want to be completely deaf by the time I am 40 so I play them at a reasonable level.

One bad ass coffee mug.

October 27, 2007 · Posted in General, Tech · 2 Comments

A month ago I was on a quest for a bad ass coffee mug. Mainly, something I could carry on my mt. bike. I found this little gem from REI. This is worth every penny in my book. Just dump in the goods, add hot water, let steep, drink, repeat. I hunted around and found a few others (shitty but resourceful website) but this was most appealing. Other insulated bottles with nipples tend to keep drinks too hot. And theres nothing worse than scalding your mouth first thing in the morning. I find with this REI mug, I can unscrew the top thermos-style cap toss it in my pocket/bag and I don’t lose any coffee due to spillage thanks to the internal screen, 8 spoke drinkable lid, as well as any grounds that are floatin’ up top;) Fits well in my adjustable cage too! Best of all, if it works on my bike, it’ll work anywhere. Easy to clean. Highly recommended. If you decide to order one hunt for a discount code online first. I save 4-5$ on both the bottle and the cage…basically covers shipping. Enjoi!
