Gentoo’s fer Ricers
Every once in a while it’s good to step outside your personal technological maelstrom and really take a look at yourself. I find this especially useful when I’ve discovered that for the past two weeks I’ve probably spent 100 hours building and destroying linux systems at will. Ok, ok I’ll be specific… GENTOO linux systems. (I don’t know what it is. I guess I’m a “ricer” and a closet-case masochist.) Anyway, after browsing around in search for God’s Gentoo install (he’s probably got it tweaked to perfection), I came across this site.
I guess it’s always good to laugh at yourself and the community of freaks you adore (as ignorant as they are). It stings a lil’ bit. But so does life.
Keep dreamin’.
Philinux Journal Entry 20050219a : The End of the Beginning
The latest Paulinux journal entry is now available on the project site.
This entry covers the installation of the following packages:
Gawk, Coreutils, Bzip2, Gzip, Diffutils, Make, Grep, Sed, Gettext, Ncurses, Patch, Tar, Texinfo, Bash, M4, Bison, Flex, Util-linux, Perl and finally, Udev.
It will also wrap up the temporary system. This allows me to immediately begin the final Paulinux system build.
Philinux Journal Entry 20050215a - Building Binutils (Pass 2)
Yes folks, another journal entry is available.
This one covers some new information regarding 64-bit builds as well as the description the second pass of binutils.
Off Topic Note:
It get’s a little weird when I start seeing results on Google. I did so to see how many snowbrain pages it would track and needless to say, some of the results are surprising.
